Za klavir: for the piano
Za Klavir: For The Piano is a collection of 26 original compositions that blend minimal, contemporary, classical roots with elements of Balkan folk. The album has been described as “elemental and concise” and “compelling listening throughout”. UK-based The Arts Desk celebrates “Platiša’s unaffected playing [which] suits the music perfectly, and the close, intimate balance is what these pieces need. Delightful, in other word.”
The collection merges traditional and contemporary elements. The six winter days spent recording the album crystallized for Nina the guiding force of its maturation: to weave together a sense of belonging from the disparate sources of inspiration and influence from which she draws.
It is in music she comes closest to finding a sense of belonging – especially when seated at her piano bench.
In Za Klavir was recorded at Port William Sound in Mountain Grove, Ontario and is released April 21st 2023.
This project benefits from the generous support of Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council.
